40Flex Journey | Day 17

Pay attention!

"Don’t get so lulled by making a living that you miss out on what will keep you alive."

Good day! I hope you are filled with joy and wonder as you live in the overflow of God’s mercies.

I find it very interesting that there is a call out to the reader right in the middle of the passage. The words “Reader, pay attention!” stand out amongst all that Jesus said. Just like these warnings that He issued in the passages for the day. Pay attention, Jesus says. Don’t miss the signs.

Don’t get so lulled by making a living that you miss out on what will keep you alive.

Now think about this.

Then Jesus began teaching them with stories… (Mark 12.1). Then a bit later, after one story from Jesus: The religious leaders wanted to arrest Jesus because they realized he was telling the story against them.

What do you choose to do when you realise the story is about you?

......................................................

"Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God." (Mark 12.24)

I hope this never becomes our mistake. We have the Scriptures available in many ways. We have Jesus who we can know. Don’t miss it: He is a very present display of God’s power.

......................................................

"I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!" (Mark 13.37)

Do we expect God every day? That expectation of His very presence in your day. The Master. The Lord. In your day-to-day. This watching for him makes all the difference.

Old-school Song of the Day!

The Challenge

Big Steps Forward

01.
Deepen Knowledge

Commit to studying a less familiar book of the Bible over the next month to better understand God's power and word.

02.
Expect Presence

Start each day with a prayer of anticipation, actively seeking God's presence in both mundane and monumental moments.

03.
True Motivation

Practice generous giving—time, talent, or treasure—focusing on a heart that honors God rather than seeking recognition.
