40Flex Journey | Day 19

Embrace the impossible.

"Jesus came to seek and save me (and you, and everyone). Doesn’t matter where I’m from, who I am, or what I’ve done. Jesus is my Saviour."

Start with knowing that you are all loved and blessed. Here is Day 19 of our 40-Day walk with Jesus.

Look at that! The book of Luke! (Say that ten times, fast.) Thought of as the most universal of all the Gospels, Luke makes it very clear that Jesus came for everyone.

Now Think About This

Today’s theme: Mission Impossible

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

The Doubt of Zechariah

“How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now...” (Luke 1.18)

Don’t we ask this question? How can I be sure? Look at my circumstances! Viewing God’s move in our lives with doubt casts a restraint on our living. We end up working so hard to conjure up a reality closer to our version of "possible." Tiring? For sure! This is why we often talk of exhaustion rather than speak of God’s goodness.

......................................................

The Logistics of Mary

“But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” (Luke 1.34)

The few words omitted from Mary’s question make all the difference. We can glean a faith in the possibility. She wasn't sure of the logistics, but her heart was open: "I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true." (Luke 1.38)

......................................................

However improbable the scenario, both children were born. Remember:

  • God’s words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time (Luke 1.20).
  • The Lord is kind to us; He does not leave us in despair (Luke 1.25).
  • His plans are surer than anything; the word of God will never fail (Luke 1.37).

When we learn "Whatever You say goes, Lord," it’s just like embracing the impossible.

Medley of the Day!

The Challenge

Big Steps Forward

01.
A Servant's Response

Identify a seemingly impossible situation and pray Mary’s words: "I am the Lord’s servant. May everything You have said come true."

02.
Inclusive Love

Luke emphasizes Jesus came for everyone. Take one specific action this week to make God's love feel accessible and welcoming to an outsider.

03.
Celebrate the Joy

The joy of Jesus’ birth is still alive. Spend time in prayer or listen to worship music today to specifically celebrate the hope He brings.
